Acura ZDX stop production
Deserved or not, Acura ZDX goes into retirement. The official information was announced from Honda that production of this model will be ended with 2013 year model. After only several years of production, ZDX will be discontinued. However, the company’s spokesman did not say any reason for this move, but we can say that it is too obvious why this model is canceled. There are two main reasons. The first one and probably the most important is poor sale result. This model just does not have defined character.
On the one side it is very non-practical coupe-like crossover, while on the other side it does not have necessary sex appeal to attract style oriented customers. Other, also very important reason is that Japanese manufacturer develops a new version of seven seat crossover MDX, which is far more popular and which has much better perspective. It is clear that Honda is focused on its best-selling model and when production of new MDX moves from Ontario to Alabama next year, Acura ZDX is history.
Acura ZDX 2013 – final year model
There is some information about last ZDX model. Interesting thing about the last Acura ZDX is that it costs almost 5000 dollars more than 2012 year model, although it has pretty much the same level of equipment. It is powered with the same 3.5 liter V6 engine which outputs 300 horses. It is matted to a six-speed automatic transmission and estimated EPA ratings are 16 mpg for the city and 23 mpg for a highway drive. Acura ZDX is equipped with many luxury and hi-tech things such are navigation system, premium 10-speaker sound system, leather seats, cooled/heated front seats and multi-view rear camera. For the 2013 ZDX model there some special features such as slightly changed front grille, parking sensors, new rims, forward collision warning. Acura offers also a new wood trim on the center console called “high contrast interior option”.
Acura ZDX conclusion
One thing is for sure – the life Acura ZDX is finished and it was very short. With the lack of it own character and poor sale results this model was doomed to failure. However there is always possibility ZDX to become very interesting model for antique car lovers in coming decades.
