2017 Honda Civic Si
One of the variations of the upcoming Civic sedan is Si model. It will probably come in spring of next year. This model is going to share a lot of features with other models of the same family, the most with Type R tuned vehicle, which also comes later next year. Nevertheless, this is going to be a comeback for 2017 Honda Civic Si, which was somehow in shadow of base model, and then Coupe and Type R. Main reason why Honda decided to give another shot to sedan are questions from buyers about its disappearing from market. Now, there is another reason to wait for new sedan class.
2017 Honda Civic Si engine
Under the hood of the 2017 Honda Civic Si is going to be 2.0-l petrol unit with four cylinders. This is detuned version of the same engine used by base model and Type R. For Si version, drivetrain can deliver around 220 hp, and around 200 lb-ft of torque. On the other side, fuel economy will be boosted, but exact numbers are unknown yet. It will be better than for base and Type R, but Si won’t be in par with Hybrid Civic, announced for around 45 mpg combined. Engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
2017 Honda Civic Si redesign
As well as other models in this lineup, the 2017 Honda Civic Si is part of the new generation of the sedan, but no radical changes are to be made. Instead of that, company designers decided to revise its look, giving slightly more aggressive look and without big changes. Minor touches are made on headlights, grille and bumper. Wheels are offered in 15-inches size, and upper trims are getting 16- or 17-inches. Interior is updated, but most of the features could be found on Accord or CR-V vehicles from Honda. It is going to be interesting to see if designers will enlarge space in cabin.
2017 Honda Civic Si release date
Regular model of 10th generation of Civic is expected early next year. Type R is going to be probably the first variation to follow it, or it could be Coupe, while 2017 Honda Civic Si is coming at spring of next year.
