2016 Acura RLX

The RLX is a full-size luxury sedan produced by Honda’s luxury division Acura. It came as all-new model in 2013 as replacement for RL and it is company’s current flagship sedan. It is offered in two variants – with petrol engine and as hybrid. After few years of production, 2016 Acura RLX comes with several modifications. New model will feature redesigned chassis, which includes new suspension, and also some new drive-assist hi-tech features. On the other side, powertrain is expected to remain pretty much unchanged.

The 2016 Acura RLX comes with some significant modifications. The most important changes were made on chassis. There are new front and rear shock absorbers that come with increased piston rod diameters and less stiff stabilizer bars. New model comes with lowered spring rates and shock absorber damping force. Beside improved overall ride, company also claims that these changes will also provide better driving feel inside the cabin.

To be more precise, 2016 RLX will come with reduced noise, vibration and harshness in the cabin. Other big novelty is that company’s new AcuraWatch suite of electronic driver aids will be also in offer. This feature originally came with 2016 ILX and it includes a whole bunch of advanced safety and drive-assist systems. There are things like adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and finally, surround view camera which provides some kind of a bird’s eye view of the vehicle.

When it is about powertrain, 2016 Acura RLX will come without changes. The base model is powered by 3.5 liter VTEC V6 engine, which has an output of 310 horses. There is also a RLX Sport Hybrid variant, which uses the same hybrid configuration as NSX supercar. This system is consisted of petrol V6 engine and two 36-horsepower electric motor for each rear wheel. The total output of the car is rated at 377 hp and 377 lb-ft of max torque. Both variants use the same 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

2016 Acura RLX release date and price

The 2016 Acura RLX powered with petrol engine is already available and it starts around 52.000 dollars, while Sport Hybrid is expected to come very soon.
